Introducing New Artist: Ally Montgomery

Ally is a Vancouver Island-based contemporary artist specializing in minimalist abstract paintings inspired by the stunning West Coast of British Columbia. Her work celebrates connection, wonder, and the quiet magic found in everyday moments. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, childhood imagination, and the emotional landscapes we all share, Ally’s art invites viewers to slow down, feel deeply, and reconnect with a sense of curiosity and joy.

Ally continues to explore fresh ideas, meaningful themes, and creative growth while staying rooted in authenticity. Her goal is simple: to create art that feels like an exhale — art that reminds us of who we are, where we’ve been, and the wonder that still awaits.

New Arrivals from Shelley Wuitchik

Encaustic (from the Greek for “to burn”) is an ancient technique once used to caulk ship hulls and create exquisite mummy portraits. Today, Shelley Wuitchik uses it to tell deeply personal stories.

An early morning dog walk might find its way onto the canvas as layers of Japanese maple leaves, coffee beans, and arbutus bark embedded in pigment-infused beeswax. Shelley believes her art mirrors her life: rich, colorful, and layered. She loves encaustic for its immediacy and deliberateness, yet it remains malleable and forgiving — much like the people (and dog) in her life.

Introducing New Artist: Dunja in Bloom

Dunja is a Victoria, BC-based botanical artist whose work captures real local flowers in a suspended state of permanence. Each piece preserves a fleeting moment in nature, held forever in sculptural resin through layered tone, light, and metallic depth.

With a background in editorial makeup artistry developed over a decade in London, UK, Dunja brings a refined eye for balance, contrast, and placement. Her work explores a quiet tension between softness and structure, where florals are composed into forms that feel both organic and intentional. Each flower is foraged and preserved by hand, then set in motion within resin and held at its most striking moment.

New Arrivals from Isako Suzuki

Isako Suzuki’s exquisite lines capture the essence of her craft. Each line is individually stained and then assembled to form a seamless gradient effect, creating a sense of illusion through intricate swirling patterns. By building gradated bands that transition from dark to light, she imparts a beautifully textured look without carving or fluting.

Originally from Japan, Isako now lives and works in her private studio on Prince Edward Island, Canada. She is the head potter for Hermann-Suzuki Pottery and focuses primarily on the ancient Japanese technique of Neriage. Trained initially by her father, the renowned celadon ceramist Sansei Suzuki, Isako has refined her distinctive style over many years. Her Neriage works have recently been selected for juried exhibitions in Japan.
